Brief Answer:
It means you have been exposed to herpes 1 infection recently or in past

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Your report shows presence of HSV1 IgG antibodies. This means at some point you were exposed to herpes infection type 1 and subsequently developed antibodies.

2. Your infection appears to be recent or in the past. herpes infection is common and not every patient will have rashes.

3. If there are no rashes in the oral and genital regions then there is no need to worry. However you are having herpes 1 infection and it is suggested to repeat the antibodies test after 3 months for follow up. Please have protected sex.

Hope your query is answered
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Well, I did a lot of reading and what I understood is the majority of people have it

Also, I would like to understand why I have to retest after 3 months.

I dont understand what you mean by rashes? and what are the medication for it?

I am really confused, I always have protected. and you mentioned you can get it with non sexual. so does that HSV1 isn't a STD?

Rashes are active form of HSV1 infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. You have read correctly that many patients have this infection.

2. Testing again is suggested to check for decreasing antibodies levels and confirmation of infection.

3. Rashes are found in active form of herpes infection.

4. Medicine for rashes is antiviral and given by doctor after clinical examination.
