Question: Hi doctor please help. I have been seeing 2 cardiologists who both say I have a healthy heart and have rare PVC 15 in 48 hours and rare PACS 129 in 48 hours. I have a question. I have certain times where ill be standing working ( I am a chef) and I check my pulse and it is beating regularly and then I will get 5 or 6 beats that are very slow in between. I don't get a feeling like a pvc I only notice it by checking my pulse or like I have food in my throat. I do not understand what this is. I get a feeling like I have a lump in my throat and then I feel my pulse and it is slower than normal. Then after 5, 6 or 7 beats it speeds up again. My holter said normal sinus rhythm. what is this?

Brief Answer:
Normal reaction to standing for long periods...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.

You are reporting to be a chef and need to be in standing position for long periods of time. During such standing, the blood is accumulating in the extremities. The heart will work as normally to push the blood in the systemic blood vessels.

When blood is accumulating in the extremities, your heart will work harder and need to change its rhythm to keep blood circulating normally.

All you experience is perfectly normal reaction to standing for long time. I advise to make pauses like alternating positions standing and sitting.

Hope it helped!

Hi Doctor is it possible that this happens even when I stand from a seated position? Also is this normal heart function?

Brief Answer:
Following answer to your query...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

yes this is a normal heart function. Heart has the function to pump the blood away from legs. The heart work harder when you are on standing (than when you are seated), because on that occasion the heart works against gravity.

It's normal to experience these symptoms even when you are on seating position, although the highest intensity and frequency is on standing.

So you have nothing to worry about.
Wish you health!
