What Does Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels Indicate?

Question: I am a carrier of HBsAG since last 15 years and every year i get my Viral load tested which has always come below detection level. Recently I got my blood test. My SGOT is 60, sgpt is 43 and alkaline phosphatase is 111. Ultrasound report is normal. What should I do to lower my levels. XXXXXXX

This level of raise in the liver enzymes indicate old infection induced damage to the liver. The only remedy is to take liver protective medication like Sylimarin and cutting down on fat and spicy food for a minimum of one month.

Increased liver enzymes can also be seen in liver is damaged due to reactivation of the infection which sometimes can be missed by Viral DNA test. Hence, it is safe to ascertain the absence of reactivation by more indicative tests like Anti HBc IgM antibody and AntiHBe antigen.

Thanks for the response. Forgot to mention that i was taking antoboitics metrogl and cifran for stomach infection. Does this affect bloodtest?
