Brief Answer:
Manifestation of non alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD)

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

A coarse fatty liver as described in the report is supposed to be due to diffuse fatty liver. As you have a fatty liver since ten years, it may be a manifestation of non alcoholic fatty liver disease. In some people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, the fat that accumulates can cause inflammation and scarring in the liver.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease can progress slowly over a period of time. This does not regularly happen with every one having this condition. In most people the liver remains fatty and this is a stable condition. In few of the patients it can cause fibrosis and scarring which later leads to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease-associated cirrhosis in a very small number of patients after many years.

You may need to discuss with your doctor to confirm if you are at risk to develop the rare complications of non alcoholic fatty liver disease.

The hard lump like feeling in the stomach needs to be assessed by a surgeon. If the pain is in the lower abdomen then it might be due to the degenerative fibroid.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Just below the ribs, on the left side is located the spleen and above it the stomach. While anything to do with the spleen would have been picked up on ultrasound, a large lump in the region also would have been visible. It can also be a pain in muscles,

2. In the central part of upper abdomen we have the pancreas and stomach. Any lump in the region in this place also would have been picked up. As you specifically mention lump on bending, any possibility of a hernia in the anterior abdominal wall must be ruled out by consulting a surgeon.

3. No genetic associations with advanced NAFLD have been replicated in large studies. But it is too early to say with confirmation that NAFLD is free from genetic influences.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
