Brief Answer:
Not a serious concern, please continue medicines & follow lifestyle changes

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
According to the latest classification of hypertension as per guidelines laid down by World Health Organization, a diastolic blood pressure of 94 mm Hg is taken to be Grade 1 Hypertension.

In your case you have isolated increase in diastolic blood pressure (increased peripheral resistance hinting towards age related arterial disease). However, the increase in diastolic Blood Pressure is not very high . Also there might be some instrumental errors while recording B.P.

Usually the blood pressure recorded by instruments is slightly higher than the actual blood pressure by up to 5 to 10 percent.

The medications given to you are appropriate.
Enalapril- ACE inhibitor (antihypertensive)
HCTZ- prevents fluid retention in the body (antihypertensive)
Norvasc-Calcium channel blocker (antihypertensive)

I also suggest the following:
1. Life style modifications like brisk walk in the mornings.
2. Reduce salt intake in diet.
3. Have a balanced diet rich in fibres, green leafy vegetables , lean meat
consumption, reduced oil intake.
4. Relaxation techniques like meditation.
5. Kindly quit smoking and alcohol consumption if you do so.
6. Sometimes oral contraceptive pills cause heart related diseases so if you are
on such medications kindly consult your gynaecologist and get it changed.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek
