What Does An ESR Level Of 45 Indicate?
Question: Just got back a ESR of 45 & CRP 1.7. RA was in negative range 9.2. Please see history. What could these mean? Was checked by Rheumatologist - having more pain / fatigue. Have follow up in 4wks.

I have gone through your query and history and understand your concern.
Your ESR as well as CRP are mildly elevated. They are non specific signs of any inflammatory process going on in the body. When these reports are found, we look for specific locations of the inflammation or probably some infection. They can be high in conditions like local infections, chronic diseases, fever etc too. You have several histories and fibromyalgia may be a cause for the above. Your RA factor is negative so Rheumatoid arthritis is unlikely.
You are having more pain and fatigue and that can be due to the ongoing inflammatory process. It would be better if you visit a physician to get thoroughly checked clinically and accordingly any further tests can be advised as required.
Till then you can continue with your medications to keep your pain under control. Your current medications do contain pain-relieving medicines.

I didn't think fibromyalgia could cause elevated SED rate? I looked back, and see that my SED rate was 29 on the last two tests before this one (2013 & 2014).
