Brief Answer:

Imroper digestion and absorption of food.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As you digest food, digestive gases are formed as a result of fermentation and digestion of food which can also collect in gut.The pathophysiology of gas and bloating is complicated.

The term gut microflora or microbiota means hundeds of species of bacteria which lives in our intestinal tractintestinal tract.

These bacterias and yeast are responsible for proper digestion and fermentation of food.

Hundreds of species of bacteria and yeast are found in the colon of the human intestine.

In the same way, thousands of these species flourish in our gut these bacteria play a vital role in digestion and absorption of food.

Even minor disturbances in gut microflora can lead to significant changes in gut function, including gas production.

There are various mechanisms that can be related to increased gas formation.

If this microbiota is disturbed food is improperly fermented causing the production of a large number of gases in the gut leading to severe gas formation.

This results in inflammation of intestines causing secretion of a large amount of mucous hence most common cause in most of the cases is disturbed microbiota.

In old patient mobility of intestines is severely compromised leading to accumulation of a large number of gases in intestines. As persitaltic moments are week gas accumulates in intestines.

Suggestions-

Ensure that raw foods are cooked properly before you eat them. This includes beef, pork, and eggs. Also, a good practice would be to steam meat before actually cooking it.

Stay hydrated by drinking up to eight glasses of water a day, as it will help the absorption process and prevent constipation.
Consume probiotic foods.

This may include specific types of yogurt or supplements that help combat invasive bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract.
Eat fruits and vegetables. The added fiber will help cleanse the colon.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
