What Does A Large Dark Purple Bruise On Shin Indicate?
Question: I have a large dark purple bruise on my shin that has a white center with a red ring around it. The white center is tender and feels like a lump. When this first happened I just had the lump and it stung for a second, then itched, then turned into a bruise that got bigger. I could have been bitten by something because it was at a park, but I didn't see what it was. Do you think this something I need to go to the doctor for?

Since you initially felt a sting then it is possible , as you mentioned, that it has occurred as a result of an insect sting though it would be difficult to know the exact insect.
In most cases the use of antihistamines along with anti inflammatory agents would be helpful.
In addition to the anti histamine zyrtec, you can use anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam, aspirin. Any one of these would reduce any associated inflammation and help with resolution.
If you notice any possible systemic effects of the bite, which may indicate a more serious reaction or bite from a dangerous insect, then you should visit your doctorr.
Systemic effects would be generalised fatigue, malaise, weakness etc,
