What Does A TSH Level Of 6.9 Indicate?
Question: My TSH test results are 6.9 - i seem to have quite a few of the symptoms described for hyperthyroidism. I am 34 years old and weigh 70 kilos - i am 5 feet tall

Hi ,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your lab reports and understand your concerns.
You are having sub clinical hypothyroidism - a small decrease in thyroid gland function. It is treated only in special situations, which include:
1. Pregnancy or planning pregnancy
2. If you have a thyroid swelling ( clinical examination by a doctor or by ultrasound neck)
3. Increased anti TPO antibodies (a blood test)
4. Presence of high cholesterol (not there in your lab reports)
If you have any of these 4 situations, consult an endocrinologist or physician to get started on thyroid medications. The usual starting dose we give is 25 mcg of thyroxine.

Welcome back,
Some parameters like lipids, HsCRP, SGPT shows borderline abnormalities. Dietary modifications like increasing the fiber, avoiding fast foods, etc and regular exercise can bring that to normal.
Two things that need treatment are vitamin D and folic acid deficiency.
Vitamin D - 60,000 iu of vitamin D available as tablets, XXXXXXX or capsule form, weekly once x 8 weeks is the usual treatment.
Folic acid - 5 mg tablet daily is the treatment
