Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: Respected Doctor,
Kindly note that I am aware of all the repeated questions/answers about HIV test results. So, let me be simple and quick:
Exposure Detail: I am a male. Prostitute transgender did oral sex to me (i was drunk. So, to my knowledge i used condom) then they kissed me once (the moment i realized, i pushed my face away)
Post-Exposure: I had severe cold, sore-throat for about 3 weeks. So, I went for (1) HIV antibodies test, VDRL @ 4 weeks (2) HIV DUO(4th generation), Chlamydia, Syphilis, Serology, etc (STD Profile test) @ 5 weeks - All results were negative.
Current situation: The sore throat continues for about a month (I already have Staphylococcus non-aureus in my body. So, usually i get rashes in my body and face, that happens even now). I am not sure what's happening inside my body.

Additional Info: I take antibiotics suggested by my sexologist

Thanks for your patience to read this. Kindly advice my risk

Hello Doctor,

Thanks. Please find the details:

1) STD Profile-2 test results taken at 5 weeks after exposure attached for your reference

2) Sorry i don't have VDRL, Hiv-1&2 test reports taken at 4 weeks (but the results were negative)

3) Duration: 5 days, Antibiotics taken for cold:
Moxikind cv 375, RANTAC 150mg, Mucolite, Levocitrizine 10 mg, cough syrup ascoril, Parl 500mg, Mox 500

4) Duration: 10 days, Antibiotics suggested by sexologist:

5) Rashes: doesn't stay for more than few minutes. So, couldn't take a photo (but it usually appears like an insect bite). My chest, upper body everything is clean

6) Penis ring: I feel that there is a swelling in my penis ring (but showed to a doctor at office wellness center, who said everything appears normal and no infection).

6) Additional Info:

Brief Answer:
For accurate confirmation, get RT-PCR for HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXXXXX

I apologise for the delayed response owing to my hectic work schedule.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through the uploaded reports as well.

You seem to have Negative reports for all issues detected.

Since the test for HIV is done within the window period of 90 days, I advise you to either repeat the tests after 90 days or you can go for higher sensitive and accurate test RT-PCR for HIV 1,2.These tests directly detect HIV RNA at least 10 days from exposure.Hence, I recommend this test.

Pertaining to the throat symptoms, this could a polymicrobial infection.

A combination of a fungicide and bactericide drug will be helpful.

I generally recommend my patients single doses of oral tablets of Fluconazole 200 and Azithromycin 1gm plus Metronidazole 750.This should clear all the residual infection. Please check with your doctor if he shares my view and if can prescribe it to you.

Since the rest of the Non-HIV tests are negative, you need not worry much.

Pertaining to skin rash, it could be drug induced. Both MOX and MOXKIND are known to cause minor skin rashes. This should resolve spontaneously.

Even the penile swelling if any should resolve with this new antibiotic therapy.

Hence, many of symptoms would resolve.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
