Posted on Sat, 19 Sep 2015
Question: I have had 3 ECG's read ectopic atrial pacemaker. The cardiologist reviewed it and said things were normal. I also had to have a echocardiogram which was normal due to being diagnosed with hemochromatosis 3 months ago. I am getting phelbotomy and my iron is way down now so i feel better. My question is the ECG issue something to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
please attach ECGs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM.
First of all I request you to attach all your ECGs for review.kindly inform me whether interpretation is auto function by ECG machine or it is written and confirm by doctor ?.
I presume that you have atrial premature contractions which is benign .This is benign form of rhythm disorder of heart and may not suggest any disease. However since you have Haemochromatosis ,we should rule out Iron deposition in heart. But you have mentioned that your echo cardiogram is normal so iron deposition is less likely .please mention what is cause of Haemochromatosis? Are you having polycythemia?
I need to know your entire clinical information to guide you properly.Though your ECG interpretation is not serious.
My best wishes

Hi Dr Teli
Thanks so much for your reply. It was ECG machine in PCP office and reviewed by Cardiologist. I will try to attach it. I have hereditary hemochromatosis, double gene 282. Just diagnosed in May. I just want to be sure heart issue is fine so i can resume my work out program. I do crossfit programs that are rigorous and was worried about a possible heart arrythmia. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Its only interpretation of ECG machine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your interpretation of ECG.
As such I would like to review actual tracing rather than auto interpretation .However since it is reviewed by a cardiologist you need not worry. The parameters reported are very much normal. As you mentioned earlier that your echo was normal ,you should not worry about your heart .you may plan your activity considering your heart normal.
My best wishes
Dr.Teli.
