What Do Red Marks On The Penis Head Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Nov 2016
Question: I have a slightly red abrasion type mark on the head of my penis for a few months. I suspected it was from sex but usually those marks disappear within a few days. This one has persisted. It is not irritated and the skin is not raised. Sometimes it appears more visible than others, but that may be due to room lighting. Besides sex and masturbation, I should also point out an additional source of friction may be from cycling. I ride between 4-10 hours per week in lycra cycling shorts. I have attached two pictures for your review. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
A frictional detmatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.
It seems just a minor irritation, may be due to friction from rubbing.
I suggest you to apply a topical antibiotic e.g 2% mupirocin Or 2% fusidic acid cream, 2x daily.

Regards
