What Do Pus Cells In Urine Indicate?
Question: Doctor my 6 month old baby has been having fever and cold and cough for the past few days. Her cold and cough has decreased substantially but for the past couple of days she is having mild fever. So we had a urine test. Her urine report shows pus cells of 14-15hpf, specific gravity of 1.025, ph of 6, epithelial cells 4-5 hpf, calcium oxalate and protein present. But she is not having any dehydration problem or any urine discharge problem . Doctor what do you suggest ?

Fever associated with pus cells in urine is due to Urinary tract infection.
As the fever is mild and there are no other issues there is no cause for concern.
I would suggest you the following
1. Urine for culture and antibiotic sensitivity
2. Syrup Taxim O 5 mg / kg per dose twice a day for 7 days
3. Ultrasound of KUB region
4. Continue giving Paracetamol for control of Fever

Doctor today we had another urine test in a recognised lab in XXXXXXX Today the result was totally the opposite with the pus cells within limit (3-4) and no traces of protein and calcium oxalate. Doctor we are confused there is no fever for the last 24 hours but her milk intake is still low. What to do? Should we go for another test at a different lab ? Kindly advice.
