What Do Persistent Sores On The Throat And Low Fever Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: I thought I had bronchitis which I get almost every year but today (day 3 of amoxicilin 500 mg 2 x d) I have 5 canker sore type areas on my throat and a low temp. 100.2? I was looking for symptoms of strep and also hand foot and mouth. No skin rash, just these on the throat and nowhere else. Throat hurts really bad but my cough is consistent with bronchitis which I have had all my life. I also should mention that I suffer with acid reflux and had really bad reflux friday night after taking vitamin c.

Brief Answer:
acute tonsillo pharyngitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, you might be having infection of your tonsil along with inflammation of the pharynx. Cough is because of pharyngitis. Cancer sore are common in strep throat infection. Not always there is rashes during throat infection. As u said gastritis also can cause severe cough. If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed penicillin antibiotics amoxicillin 500 mg along with clavulunic acid 125 mgcombination for 5 to 7 days. ppi like pantoprazole with domperidone combination drug one before food for 2 weeks. Steam inhalation daily thrice may be helpful. Avoid oily and spicy foods. Small and frequent feeds recommended. Drink boiled water only. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
