Posted on Fri, 10 Oct 2014
Question: I have white head little pimples on my tongue that hurt. I have a burning sensation towards the front and also have a few of these pimples in cracks on my tongue. I have been swishing my mouth with peroxide and water and I thought that was helping, but it is still there.

Brief Answer:
needs examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

The white bumps on the tongue could be because of the chronic irritation by the sharp teeth resulting in frictional keratosis. Or it can be leukoplakia or lichen planus or it can be fungal infection.

If it is a frictional keratosis then we have to remove the cause like rounding off the sharp cuspal edges.
If it is leukoplakia, you have to stop the habit of smoking(if you have) and use antioxidants
If it is lichen planus then you can use topical steroids like triamcinolone acetonide (0.1%) 3-4times daily for 7 days.

It would be extremely difficult to recognize which of these three is the most likely without physical examination. Please consult a oral physician to rule out all these things and treat accordingly. we can also do vital tissue staining to rule out the white lesions. A biopsy may sometimes be necessary.

I hope my answer will help you. take care.
if any queries are there reply me back.

Regards
