What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Nov 2016
Question: Dear Sir My query is as follows:
I had one sexual incidence on 7-8 Feb 2016.
Due to the fear of HIV I had following tests for my satisfaction:

1-35th days HIV antibody,Anti HCV and HBsAG test rapid kit - Negative
2- 120 days HIV Anti HCV and HBsAG tests rapid kit Negative
3- 171 days Anti HCV and HBsAG tests Rapid Kit- Negative
4- 174 days HIV Anti HCV and HBsAG rapid- Negative- I asked the kits from labs
and got the same after 5 hrs from Lab and could able to see a very very light evaporated kind of mark at testing part of HIV kit but there was written on kit that Negative result at 20 min so they gave Negative report.
5-I was slight afraid so had more authentic test (as I know ) on 177 day
CMIA TEST FOR HIV (negative with index .14)and HBsAG -Non reactive.
6- Again On 180 days HIV non reactive .08 index and HBsAG Non reactive.

Sir I want your opinion on above mentioned tests and based upon them can I consider it conclusively negative.

Can I resume my normal life.
Last these months were very tough to spend.

Please suggest. In the mean time I have become alcoholic and taking alprazolam.

Regards
doctor

Dear Sir

Thanks a lot for your reassurance again. Sir few more things can further improve my morale:
1- How much reliable is CMIA and is it better then rapid kit or not.
2- what is the window period for HIV/Hbsag and HCV.
3-is there any relevance of that very very evaporated line even though my 3 negative CMIA are done after that.
4- how much should I confident over it.
5- Am I ok now or any further test is required.

Based upon your answer my life depends.

Brief Answer:
CMIA is always better than rapid tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks for posting your further concern.

CMIA is always better than rapid tests. It is because it is based on ELISA technique and therefore false results are not a possibility.

Window period for HIV or HBsAG or HCV is considered to be around 3 months.

If CMIA is negative then there is no point of thinking about anything else. If you have not indulged in any other risky behaviour then it is final and no further tests are required.

My best wishes for your healthy life ahead .
