Posted on Mon, 30 Nov 2015
Question: hi doctor, my breast mammography and ultrasound report is worrying me.
Could you pls help advise what the following mean and should I be concerned:
1. The left 4 o'clock position has a 0.7 cm circumscribed hypoechoic benign looking ovoid solid nodule.

2. There are 6 other hypoechoic ovoid nodules suggestive of benign cysts with low level internal echoes measuring 0.3 to 0.6 cm scattered in the left breast.

Detailed report is attached.

Thank you for your time!

Please give details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.

Please give me some more information so that we can discuss further and assist you better:
- What are the symptoms do you have?
- Since when have you got the problems?
- What was the reason the mammography and ultrasound was performed?
- Any FNAC done?
- Any relation of the symptoms with menstrual cycles like pain or increase in size before periods?
- Please provide any other additional information so that we can discuss further and in details to clear your doubts.

Awaiting yours.
You may also post the scanned copies of the reports of Mammography and ultrasonography.

Brief Answer:
Benign condition. Nothing to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Just got your detailed reports.
Read and understood that there are multiple cysts in both the breasts and comes under the category of Bi Rads 2 meaning there is no cancer and there are other findings like cysts. And that you should continue with routine screening.

This is a benign condition called fibrocystic disease of the breast and is not known to get transformed into cancer anytime.

No specific treatment is needed, you can take anti-oxidants in the form of multivitamins which may help sometimes.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
