Brief Answer:
Possibly hemorrhoids, following advice until see doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

From what you are describing, it seems that you are having problems with hemorrhoids.

I advise to :
- increase fluids intake especially water
- take gentle laxatives and lactulose to soften the stool and improve bowel movements
- take more fiber rich foods and fiber supplements like psyllium

When you will see your doctor you can ask to run:
- colonoscopy
- anal examination
- stool examination and culture

To find the right diagnosis.

All the best!

Can it be a diverdiculitis attack? Or colon cancer?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr.Albana Sejdini (28 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Neither of them, however need to confirm by investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

To my opinion, it is only related to hemorrhoids .

Diverticulitis is another possibility but you aren't reporting abdominal pain, fever, cramps or nausea /vomiting which are commonly associated with diverticulitis attack.

Although I do not think it is a case of diverticulitis attack or even colon cancer, I still think you need further investigations to totally rule it out.

Brief Answer:
Normal to have no bowel movement after being 10 times in the bathroom...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

When frequent bowel movements (like 10 times/day) although with small pieces of harden stool, then, it is followed by a temporary time of no bowel movement (bm).
Furthermore, constipation is often characterized by no bm for a few days too that would aggravate your symptoms.

However, you need further investigations when you reach your doctor's office to understand the cause to these changes.

For the moment, try to follow the advice as given earlier until you see your doctor.

All the best!

from your experience etc. what do you think it could be? something I ate yesterday? or maybe infection etc.? in the intestines.

Brief Answer:
Explained below...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

From my experience, it is a colitis attack. You might be experiencing constipation for a few days, and now you are having a bowel movement.
As the stool has remained for long time, it has become hardened; and you find it difficult (hard straining) when having a bm.

When the hard stool is passing through the anal mucosa, it will get lacerated. From the hard straining, it will be developed hemorrhoids, that will cause bleeding each time you are having a bm.

The pain and difficulty you are feeling when passing the stool, make it harder to complete a full emptying of your bowels, making you go to bathroom for many times.

It is true that foods you eat, especially, if chilly, spicy, seeds, or low fiber foods, they will negatively affect your bm. However, if it happened suddenly and you do not remember to have consumed a new food/drink; then, most probably it's due to constipation and related hemorrhoids.

Once again, diverticulitis attack is also to be considered after visiting your doctor.

Try to be calm and not to worry unnecessarily until you see your doc.
All the best!

Brief Answer:
Yes, hemorrhoids make you go to toilet frequently

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

I understand you being stressed. You do not have to.

Tomorrow will be a normal day with a bit difficulty in passing the stool ( hopefully no bleeding ).

Yes, hemorrhoids will induce frequent bm mimicking diarrhea but with hardened stool.
Hopefully, this attack is over and won't repeat again.

Try to keep good anal hygiene, when touching the anus, see if you can reach any lump outside the anus (which is hemorrhoids ).
If yes, apply prep H locally (anus).
If nothing outside, could be inside hemorrhoids. But need further investigations to confirm it.

Once again, try to relax as stress will aggravate your actual symptoms.
