Brief Answer:
Uterine irritability is a possibility.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. Sachdeva,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The possible causes in the current scenario are -
1. Irritability of the uterus. This can happen with a growing uterus, especially when the uterus is retroverted. This is the stage when the uterus becomes an abdominal organ rising out of the pelvis. Uterine tocolytics have been prescribed to reduce irritability. The progesterone supplements will help to get over any deficiency until placenta takes over completely.

2. Sometimes, a short cervix can be the cause of the irritation. This can be detected with a sonogram of the pelvis. If needed, an encirclage may be done. This is mostly not needed with the first pregnancy.

3. Infection. Urinary, genital or general infections can cause uterine irritability. So, they must be taken care of.

Whatever the reason, taking absolute bed rest, abstinence, regular follow up and avoiding stress are useful. Please maintain a healthy diet and adequate liquids. Do not travel or lift weights.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Brief Answer:
Please continue rest and avoid stress.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

If your doctor performed a sonogram to detect any abnormal features, please upload the report. I can then give you a better comment.

If the pain is not increasing, you can be positive that it is going to settle. Please follow your doctor's instructions. Also, remember that stress is harmful to the pregnancy. I know it is difficult in this situation to stay calm, but, you have to try.

So many times, in the initial months of pregnancy, especially during the first one, the uterus is irritable. With proper precautions, it subsides and the pregnancy continues to full term.

Please take care that you avoid exertion of any sort. Take plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Take adequate liquids.

Hope this helps.

regards,
Shanti.V.
