What Do RBC - 11/HPF Levels Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Oct 2018
Question: Recent urine test shows color - yellow, clarity - clear, Blood +2, RBC - 11/HPF, WBC - 2/HPF, Bacteria, UA - Rare/HPF, and Mucus, UA - Rare/HPF. I'm concerned about RBC, Bacteria and Mucus. I've been having low-grade fever (<100) and chills for about a month but doctors told me things look "normal" until I just saw this report.

Brief Answer:

Control this urine!

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

11 RBC/HPF is not normal. This points to a problem in the urinary system. This could be a stone, an infection, or a problem from the kidneys. I will recommend that this test be repeated.

Specific attention should be paid to the number of red cells and their morphology.

Also, request that if there are any casts, they should be well reported-this greatly helps with pinpointing the possible origin of blood in urine.

Furthermore, I recommend an ultrasound of the kidney and urinary passages.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
