What Do AST Level Of 29 And ALT Level Of 46 Indicate?
both are within normal ranges only..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM..
I've gone through your Query and understand your concern..
However both the values of your liver enzymes(AST & ALT) are within normal range only, so for this nothing to worry..
However, what actually led you to go for this investigation , may throw some light on it perhaps..
So have you got only ALT/AST levels checked or was it a complete Liver Function test ? Please share the complete results so that I can guide you in a more specific way..
Also was there any other investigations also, if yes then how were those results ?
Any other problems ? Any significant past/present medical/surgical ailments ?
Awaiting for your response..
Regards
The other numbers were either normal or consistent with previous results.
However, this is the first time the ALT number came up as 'high', on the lab report at 46 (on a 0-44 normal scale).
Just wondering if it was significant - seems likely that it is not
Thanks
Nothing to worry, however routine and timely follow-up to continue..
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Welcome back..
Thanks for the detailed follow-up..
Medically speaking - what your referring as 'high' is not high, in fact AST/ALT level is actually considered significant when there's a 'Three fold rise' in the level from baseline and off course by significant clinical evaluation(which i'm sure you must be under going from time to time)..
This much change of value from the reference range of the lab can vary even due to different biochemical reagents, nothing to worry as this is not at all even close to the significant range..
Good to know that all other numbers are consistent to their previous values only..
Yes it is not, however in the given scenario of hypertension and pre-diabetes, I'd suggest you to stay in touch with your treating physician on regular basis, maintain your diet and lifestyle as you must have been doing already..
Have a Nice Day..
Take Care
Kind Regards
