Brief Answer:
infectious, allergic, burns, contact dermatitis, immune, etc...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I read your question and it seems mostly informative. I am going to answer it but please if you have a specific question related to a certain rash or complaint you have, please feel free to write.

There rare several causes of rashes which in most of the cases would be:

- infectious: which means a certain microorganism might be causing it like bacteria, viruses or parasites (chicken pox is an example and is a viral infection). Infections might be local infections of the skin like cellulitis, erysypella; or might be a more systemic infection (more general one) that might cause skin rash (like meningitis, sepsis, etc)

- allergic: this is when you react to a certain chemical, might be present in food, perfumes and soaps, medications etc.

- another reason we get rashes is because of local contact irritation like when we are in contact with acid or basic solutions that irritate the skin, contact dermatitis is like a local reaction also.

- Burns from sun, hot object or fire.

- Immune- this is a case of skin rashes due to a more systemic disease like lupus, dermatomysitis, etc. These are mostly related to our immune system overreacting to our body's ingredients thinking they are foreign and "fighting" against them.

I hope this answers to your question and addresses your concerns but if you have a more specific question related to this please feel free to write back.

Kind regards,

Dr Antoneta Zotaj
