What Could Cause Episodes Of Radiating Heaviness Between The Forearm And Torso?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Oct 2019
Question: sudden heaviness in BUE distally to proximally into trunk has occurred 2 times in feb, and now 3 times this week The first I was in the shower washing my hair, the second time I was walking on the each and stopped lifting my arm to take a selfie of my husband and I . I had a couple of less intense episodes that I can not recall position or what i was doing. The one time I was prone on elbows turning my head towards my left hand looking at my arm extended. the last 2 I was seated one time on a couch looking at my sons chrome book and the last time I was driving

I guess i am asking if it is something that needs sooner than later interventions or none at all?? If it needs to be seen or what interventions/tests may be expected if seen in an office as a suspected or ruling out of dx?

Brief Answer:
Please provide some more information

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I read carefully your question and I need some more information in order to give an answer if you need to be concerned about it or not.

I don't quite understand from your description where is the pain localized?
Does it radiate when it happens and where?
How can you describe it?- just heaviness or also numbness, pain, burning sensation, ect..
How long does it last?
Do you have any other symptoms?
Did what you use, help?
Do you notice and change in the skin when it happens?

Please give me any information that you think may be relevant.

Looking forward to your follow up question.

It is a heaviness best described, no pain in BUE in forearms moves from there medially to trunk maintaining the sensation of a heaviness /weakness light zinging or numbing sensation? YES it radiates BUT not distal.. it moves proximal to trunk up to upper arms into chest and into the neck and head... a heaviness that becomes a deep ache. It lasts about 3 minutes intensity dissipates over 5 to 7 minutes. After I feel tired of course. I lie down and focus on feeling it and relaxing into it. After the first time I did Myofascial release techniques as i noted my neck was tight in many directions particular anterior and posterior laterally both left and right. There are no changes in the skin during the episode. When i treat with MFR i note some vasomotor response or blanching.

Brief Answer:
Possible pinched nerve.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

From your description it looks to me like a pinched nerve, which sometimes get inflamed and causes that type of discomfort.

If I was your caring doctor I would recommend to keep an eye on what type of movement causes that sensation.
I would not recommend to use a medicine because the sensation does not last for long.
If it starts repeating more frequently, or if it gets worse and not better, then it is the time to see a local doctor to examine you and recommend needed tests.

I hope this is helpful and makes sense.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

I have considered that... Not heard of or seen it being distally Bilaterally simultaneous moving medially to trunk? Is that possible?

Brief Answer:
Depends on how many nerves are pinched.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

It depends on what nerve is affected at that moment and if is just one or more then one nerve that is pinched.

I say this because the type of pain and the radiation pattern does not correspond with any organ damaged, so that makes the nerve problem more possible in my opinion. Of course I am answering with the information I have. If you do more tests or a doctor examines you they may understand more clues that lead to a more secure diagnoses.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
