Brief Answer: Acanthosis nigricans is diagnosis Detailed Answer: Hello dear, Welcome to healthcaremagic. I have read your query and understood your concern. I have seen the attached pic also. It is quite helpful. Thanks for the same. This condition is known as Acanthosis nigricans. it is the excess of skin that is deposited mainly over the back of neck. The most common reason for this is obesity which leads to excess skin deposition mainly in folds like neck, axilla , groins. It has genetic predeliction also so your son is also predisposed. In case obesity is the factor implicated , weight reduction is adviced. I will also advice your wife to get the blood sugar and free insulin levels done as association with diabetes is also very commonly found. For the treatment in addition to weight loss, various topical creams like topical mid potency steroids, salicylic acid, retinoids are advised under supervision. As per details, it is my best advice for you. If you have any further query, you can ask me. I hope it helps. Good luck.

Brief Answer: Kindly upload the picture Detailed Answer: Hello dear, Welcome again. I will advice you to put a pic of the your son also focusing on the lesions so as to be sure about the diagnosis. It is not necessary that only obese people will have this condition. But the likely chances are more in obese individuals. Similarly not all obese people have this condition. So kindly get back to me with pic of your son also. regards

Brief Answer: acanthosis nigricans unlikely Detailed Answer: Hello dear, Welcome once again. I have seen the attached pic of your son. what I could appreciate from the pic is very slight pigmentation on the back of neck. pic is not that clear but its not looking like acanthosis nigricans. If possible kindly attach a better pic. Is the pigmentation associated with itch ? If not and if its very mild hyperpigmentation unlike your wife then you need not to worry about it. It can be ignored as of now because in children sometimes some non specific pigmentation can be seen on neck. But in case if it increases with age or is symptomatic I will advice you to visit a dermatologist for examination. Or you can discuss this with us here again. Stay healthy.
