I have seen the attached pic of your son. what I could appreciate from the pic is very slight pigmentation on the back of neck. pic is not that clear but its not looking like acanthosis nigricans. If possible kindly attach a better pic. Is the pigmentation associated with itch ? If not and if its very mild hyperpigmentation unlike your wife then you need not to worry about it. It can be ignored as of now because in children sometimes some non specific pigmentation can be seen on neck.
