Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Hello Doctor,
I'm 8-weeks pregnant and have undergone 4-week (weekly once) Proluton Injection and currently prescribed for Folic Acis and Strone medicines for first 4 months.
The USG scan and blood test was detected normal.
I had my urine test which stated 6-8 Epi cells and plenty of Pus cells.
I also have lot of white discharge and an issue of lot of itching in my private parts.

Please advice. Is there any problem?

Brief Answer:
Needs antibiotics for treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Given your report, I would consider that we are probably looking at a urinary tract infection here. This infection involves the tract through which the urine flows. It is commonly caused by bacteria like Escherichia coli, Klebsiella etc. This commonly causes burning while urination, an increased frequency of urination and having to get up in the night to pass urine. These infections are common in women and are easily treatable. The treatment of this would involve the following:
a. Drink plenty of fluids
b. Cranberry juice has been shown to be useful in fighting this infection.
c. You can take a urine alkalinizing agent like disodium hydrogen citrate
d. You would also need a course of antibiotics. However, it would be best if we get a urine culture and sensitivity done in order to identify the bacterium and know which antibiotic it is susceptible to.
Since these are prescription drugs, I would suggest you see your gynecologist for the same. With the treatment, I think you should be good in about 1 week.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Due to vaginal yeast infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The white discharge and itching are likely to be due to a vaginal yeast infection. This can be detected only by performing a detailed examination.
This typically presents with the symptoms that you have described. This can be treated with antifungal angents like miconazole. You can use a vaginal pessary like Gyno Daktarin once a day for 2 weeks. Please follow the instructions on the package carefully.
It is also important to keep your private parts scrupulously clean. Trimming your pubic hair, not using any soap to wash your vagina and keeping the area clean and dry will help.
Hope my answer is helpful.
