Brief Answer:
Wetness could be due to excessive sebaceous secretions...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome back

Wetness in the ear could be due to various reasons; to mention a few:
1. Excessive sebaceous secretions
2. Minute perforation in the tympanic membrane
3. Inflammation of the external canal

Presuming your wife doesn't have any symptoms of common cold or earache or XXXXXXX ear discharge, the commonest cause to wetness could be excessive sebaceous secretions.

In order to be on a safer side, I would recommend you to get your wife examined by an apt doctor to rule out the above causes.

Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
