What Causes Watery Eye And Swollen Left Eye Caruncle?

default
Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: Hi there. My right caruncle is 3 times the size of my left eye caruncle. When i blink it feels like my eyelid is pressing on affected area. Like squeezing a balloon.Tender to touch. My eye is also watering periodically, no stickyness, just clear fluid like water (lasted 3 days so far) new symptom i discovered today is opposite part of eye is tender to touch also. Is there anything i can do myself to stop this? As my doctors will just tell me to go to my local eye hospital which is over 10 miles away, and cannot get time off work. Many thanks. XXXXXXX XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Blocked tear duct.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

From your description you have an inflammation of this area due to blocked tear duct (it connects nose with eye and lacrimal sack). The best treatment is to evacuate the obstruction.

Of course it would be better to see eye doctor. But if you are unable, you may try to do it by yourself. Please try to massage the area where the nose meets the lower eyelid. Massage this area and below it. try to push this areas towards the eye.
Gentamicin eye drops can help as well.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
