What Causes Vomiting Post Intake Of Mebendazole For Cutanea Larva Migrans?

Question: Can I get Mebendazole withou a prescription in XXXXXXX Canada? I was prescribed one tablet for three days at 100 mg and after reading the insert learned I was to take two tablets a day for three days and the parasites still exist - Cutanea Larva Migrans. I have none left as I ended up vomiting two tablets. Doctors are not very helpful; rather quite dismissive. I'm certain I have one in my left eye, yet two doctors did not even peer into it. I have samples, video footage, and pictures. I would like my samples examined but I don't know where to have that done. Do you have a suggestion? I did have a stool sample taken, but I'm sure you know that it is a dermal parasite and does not show up in that test. Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Possible CLM.Require intense work up for appropriate drug therapy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your query and attached images in detail.

These most likely represent cutaneous larva migrans/CLM

Additionally you might have features if Visceral larva migrans/VLM too, in case of these parasites are detected and isolated from the eye ball cavity.

For this you might require a Fundoscopic examination of eye.

Likewise for confirmation of CLM, you might require blood work up in the form of Differential blood count with Serum IgE levels and polarized Dermascopy.

CLM does not show up on stool specimen.

It's practically not possible to get Mebendazole drug without prescription in Canada.

You need to visit another physician who suspects CLM and VLM and runs these above mentioned tests on you.

It's important to have Mebendazole for 2-3 days for complete clearance of the parasites.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

Thank you so much. Just to clarify, are you suggesting that I take 100 mg, two times per day, every day for 2 to 3 weeks?

Brief Answer:
Albendazole for 5 days is advisable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

Mebendazole is not fully effective against CLM.

The treatment duration is 2-3 days not weeks ( I apologize for the typing error,)

The best drug for CLM and VLM is Albendazole 400 mg once a day for 5 days.

This will completely eradicate the infection.

Please check with your physician if he shares any view and if can prescribe this drug to you.

Post your further queries If any.
Thank you.
