Brief Answer:
Symptoms can be precipitated though no direct connection is there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for selecting this forum to ask your wuery.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concern.

Biological causes of OCD have focused on a circuit in the brain which regulates primitive aspects of our behaviour such as aggression, sexuality, and bodily excretions. This circuit relays information from a part of the brain called the orbitofrontal cortex (front part of the brain), to another area the striatum, and the thalamus (deeper parts of the brain). It also includes other regions such as the caudate nucleus of the basal ganglia. When this circuit is activated, these impulses are brought to your attention and cause you to perform a particular behaviour that appropriately addresses the impulse. For example, after a visit to the bathroom, you may begin to wash your hands to remove any harmful germs you may have encountered. Once you have performed the appropriate behaviour — in this case, washing your hands — the impulse from this brain circuit diminishes and you stop washing your hands and go about your day. It has been suggested that if you have OCD, your brain has difficulty turning off or ignoring impulses from this circuit. This, in turn means the obsessions and compulsions continue, leading you to wash your hands again and again.

Stress does not cause OCD, although a stressful event, like Fever,Dehydration etc if left untreated, can worsen symptoms in OCD.

SSRI's are the main stay for treatment of OCD's.Paroxetine should be taken in doses ranging from 12.5 mg to 50 mg per day for atleast 6 months.

Thanks. I am on Luvox 100mg since 3 years but I seem to get relapses on my OCD n that makes me very ill n debilitate n paralysed. I keep on doubting while knowing that they r false doubts n thoughts. I know from within that all is perfect but still doubt. I also suffer from pure OCD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I am sorry for your condition.
Its pure OCD with all charactrstic features.
You can give paroxetine a try.Trails have shown significantly better results with Paroxetine as compared to Fluvoxamine.
Tetramethyl folate could also be added to regimen after consulting your pyschiatrist.
SSRI's are the main stay for treatment of OCD.
If not relieved by one others should be tried.

Regards!
