default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: Doctor, Earlier this afternoon while I was at lunch I took a bite of chicken in a sauce (horse radish) a bite of biscuit and a swallow of Mountain Dew... My throat started bubbling and I was not able to swallow easily... I have had the happen in the past and after vomiting and burping the symptoms go away... Today the symptoms have persisted and I am not able to drink water without throwing it up. It feels like a clog in my throat... I can breath fine... I spit up what looks to be phlegm and bubbles...

Brief Answer:
Better to visit ER and be treated

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
You have developed an obstruction to the food pipe. It can be an allergic reaction to one of the food items you had eaten , as it had occurred before with the same food. The allergic reaction to a second exposure is usually more severe than the first.
Since you can breathe well, there is no immediate danger. But it is possible that this reaction may spread to include the air passage and therefore it is better to visit the ER and get treated.
Take care,
Dr Noble Zachariah
