What Causes Unilateral Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Face?
Question: I started getting some numbness, tingling feeling on half of mouth lips and tongue, above the lip down to my chin last night. No headache. Feeling a little weakness on the same side when I'm walking around in my house. I don't know what's going on. Do I need to go to see a doctor this morning?

Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.
Sorry for a late reply. If you feel a definite weakness on one side, then its an indication that you must undergo a neurological examination.
In this case, you might have to undergo a brain imaging like MRI.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

I called my doctor's office. They told me to go to the emergency room. I did. Had tests including a CAT scan done but, not an MRI. Everything was normal. Nothing prescribed. Nothing done for the numbness/tingling which I still am experiencing. They didn't think I was having a stroke. He did think it might be a Bell's Palsy situation.
Brief Answer:
Appears to be Bell's palsy but MRI should have been a better investigation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
Though it appears likely to be Bell's palsy,MRI should have been done instead of CT scan.MRI is to be done to rule out secondary causes of Bell's palsy.
A short course of Steroids along with acyclovir should be taken in Bell's palsy.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
