Brief Answer:
Need further evaluations by a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear user ! Thank you for posting your question here .

I read carefully the question and I think that your husband ( the co- ordination failing ) should do some examinations to confirm the diagnosis.

This could be a complication of another dissease ( hypertension, Diabetes or any other conditions that he may have ) .
He should go to a neurologists , the doctor will examine the nerve functions and the co - ordination, some blood tests, vitamine levels,EKG, also check his blood pressure and for any history of stroke that can cause problems in the brain.

Meanwhile control his blood pressure , limit any dangerous physical activity to prevent any fallings accident.

Hope it was helpful .
Take Care
Dr Rudina .

I forgot to tell you that he is taking vit E and vitb com-plex. He is actually doubling up on both. It has helped with the pain in his legs. Could it be possible for him to be diabetic and not know it? He is not over weight or does he have it in his family. He has regular 6 months checkup and recently had a blood test. His blood pressure has always been good.

Brief Answer:
Possible diabetes needs further evaluations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again .
I read carefuly what you wrote .
I rule out Hypertension cause and I suggest to check blood sugar.
The risk to have type 2 Diabetes when he has family members with it ,its very high .
Yes sometimes people can have diabetes even without symptoms and sometimes they have peripheral neuropathy before they know about diabetes .
It's good to take supplement but be careful of any overdose even they are supplements they can give side effect in high dosage.I will write some advices while he is taking these supplements:

-For vitamine E , the dosage should be not more than 1000-1500 mcg/day this include diet intake and supplement.
-For vitamine b complex - the most important vitamine b12 ,the normal dosage of b12 should be 1000-2000mcg taken from supplements.

He need to do some physical examinations by his doctor to check the nerves function, to confirm the diagnosis .Check vitamine levels to find out how severe is the defficency and to control the supplements dosage .
Hope this help.
