Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: I am having a twitching pain that has been going on for the last 30 minutes in the center of my lower abdomen. In 2009 I had fibroid embolization surgery. No fever. No vaginal bleeding, Only other symptom I have is a runny nose/possible cold. Please advise.

7. Pain has been constant "fluttering" 2-3 inches above pelvic bone internally.

Brief Answer:
Need not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Thanks for the information.

The pain is very unlikely from fibroid;it will cause vague discomfort rather than pain(pain occur only with complicated fibroids-very rare).

Pain in the lower abdomen,if not in the premenstrual days,is most commonly caused by urinary tract infection. But you are not having other features like nausea/dysurea/frequency.
This can be caused by the disturbed bowel habit also.

Anyhow, right now you need not worry.Just take simple analgesics like acetaminophen 500 mg or ibuprofen 400mg thrice daily after food for 3 days(if not allergic). If the pain comes down, stop the drug after 3-5 days.Otherwise,if it persists after 2 days,or the other mentioned symptoms appears, kindly see your doctor for further evaluation.
Meanwhile, drink plenty of oral fluids and include enough fruits and veges in the diet.

Hope this will answer your query.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
