Question: These are the symptoms i had post sex. Rash, sore throat, Penis chancre, lasted for aproximately 2 Weeks immediately after these subsided i had Flu Like Illness. Stuffy Nose, swollen Lymph all over, night sweats for 2 months, White Tongue with Lessions On Side. White Line on inner Cheek. discloration Of Toenails immediately after these symptons subsides. Gastro Intestinal Problems Confusion And Continued Malaise since First Set Of Symptoms, Stiff Neck, Shortness of Breathe ear Ache blurry symptoms reocurring throat issues. The girl I had Sex With Recently Got Over Flu And She was Complaining About Stiff Neck. And Throat Issues. I had a 6 week 12 week 17 week hiv1/o/2 icma antibody test poat exposure negative. And then a 21 week hiv ag/ab negative. Then i had a 28 week hiv1/o/2 antibody test and finally an 11 month hiv1/o/2 antibody test all negative. Still to this day im suffering from tongue lesion on side of tongue, lymph node swelling behind left ear and under left jaw and blurry vision. The girl i slept with unprotected had told me she had just gotten over the flu when i met her and she continued being somewhat ill during the time we dated IF not hiv what other virus could cause this or should i continue to test for hiv. Are the test reliable? It seems to much of a coincidence that i would get sick approximately 2 weeks after having sex with this girl who i found out later was promiscuous..

Brief Answer:
No further test for HIV is required as you are absolutely free from HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM.

Thanks for the query. I have gone through your question and understands your concerns. First of all, I want to clear that you are definitely free from HIV as all the tests done at 6, 12, 17, 21 and 28 weeks along with at 11 months are non reactive and these tests are highly reliable and accurate so no need to worry.

All your symptoms are mostly due to some common viral or airborne infection that you got from contact with that girl nothing else and it is not at all related to sexual transmission which you can consider as just co-incidence. As far as penis chancre is concerned it is peculiar manifestation of Syphilis and can be ruled out by dermatologist only because it can be something else than chancre like ulcer.

It is also clear from your history that you are too much anxious or stressed that is why feeling exacerbation of symptoms. Just make your self busy with work and do regular exercises to relieve anxiety and mental stress. Take healthy and nutritious diet along with some multivitamin which will make you feel better.

Consult your local physician, follow the expert advice and take some treatment for your recent illness. Don't think much about HIV because it is not necessary that repeated illness is due to HIV only. Be relaxed and move on in life happily. If any query don't hesitate to ask me, I will feel very happy to help you.

Thank You

I still have enlarged lymph node behind left ear and under left jaw area these have been swollen since 2 or 3 months after exposure.. I recently starting having night sweats again and losing weight.. The nodes change in size put remain swollen. I also have stomach and indegestion problems.. All these things have been ongoing after that unprotected sexual encounter. What could be causing these things

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are due to some other viral or bacterial infection not HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks for follow-up.

I totally agree with you that these symptoms arise after having unprotected sexual encounter but still they were not related to HIV because all your tests for HIV are negative so don't worry as the symptoms will subside within few days.

Usually viral infection will subside spontaneously within 5-7 days but still for your mental satisfaction, go for some tests after consulting your physician to isolate the cause.

It is just your anxiety or nervousness which makes you feel uncomfortable.

Be relaxed, forget the past and move ahead in life happily.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
The symptoms are not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back once again.

It is very clear that you do not have HIV so alleviate the extreme fear about HIV. Just forget about the past incidence and get involved in yoga, meditation or exercise for the piece and relaxation of your mind. Avoid thinking too much as it is also not good for you. Consider counselling services if needed which will be very helpful in your case.

In my opinion your symptoms are just because of anxiety or stress nothing else. For clarification you can consult physician or infectious disease expert to evaluate the cause. you can also go for lymph node biopsy if needed. If still any query left, you can ask me and I am always available to help you.

Thank You

As i continue to have all these symptoms. The only thing i can think of that could be causing these symptoms that i got after sex and some continue to prolong is hiv. I am losing significant weight in my arms and legs. Having stomach issues, swollen lymphs, blurry vision, and still have tongue lesions, i also got bad toenail fungus.Have you ever seen tests stay negative 11 months after exposure. Its been 2 yrs since exposure, i took tests up to 11 months after exposure and i have never been the same since.. I have seen many stories on the internet of late seroconversion.

Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
I have not seen any patient with such late seroconversion after 11 months.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back once again.

I have not seen any patient with seroconversion at 11 months after exposure and it is not possible to be positive after being negative at 11 months. The window period for HIV is also 15 days to 3 months so after that period the test is reliable and accurate

All your symptoms can occur due to anxiety /stress. Again I will advice to avoid it. If you find it difficult to forget the incident then consider counselling services which will help you feel much relaxed and more comfortable.

Make your self busy with routine work. Do regular exercises and take nutritious diet. Don't get feared about HIV as you are risk free at all. For any help ask me again, I feel happy to solve your query.

Thank You

1 more question. What if i had an undiagnosed autoimmune disease would this delay antibody production.. I currently have swollen lymphs, blurry vision, itchy skin, significant weight loss, and night sweats.. How could anxiety bring about all these symptoms.. Eventhough i have been diagnosed with anxiety in the past would it cause all these symptoms.
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
It would not delay the antibody production.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

Undiagnosed autoimmune disease would not delay antibody production and your HIV test result after 11 months of negative results. The test is considered highly reliable and conclusive so nothing to worry at all.

As far as your symptoms are concerned anxiety may be the culprit for many of them and it is not good for your health in any way so better to avoid it. Consult physician for further management.

If not of help you can consult some psychiatrist or counselor who will help you out from anxiety and stress. Calm down and move on in life happily. For any further clarification you can get back to me.

Thank You
