What Causes Tingling Sensation In Chest Radiating To Arms While Urinating?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Dec 2014
Question: My mom has a tingling in her chest that goes out to her arms, then down to her fingertips when she urinates. What could this be? Is there a specialist who would know something about this?
Yesterday we were visiting with a friend and she said that when she really needs to go to the bathroom and her bladder is really full, she gets pains in her hands. Are these symptoms related to something?

Brief Answer:
explained and tests suggested

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.

The symptoms that you have mentioned are suggesting that the possibly involved organ system may be either cardiac or neurological.

I will try to explain why I say so.

When you have a micturition, the blood pressure falls. This is normal for everyone. But when the heart has a low blood pressure, the heart has to heat faster and there fore it needs more blood supply. This makes a diseased heart susceptible to pain.

Alternatively, she may be having an undetected back problem whereby the nerves are getting compressed. The postural change while in micturition may be triggering the pain.

To confirm, we will need tests lie MRI cervical spine and Dobutamine Stress Echo and CT chest.

The treatment will be given according to the lesion involved.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
I hope that the information helps you.
Feel free to contact me for further information.
Best of luck.
Dr Mittal.
