default
Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: I had an intense pain in my chest last Thur. It was across my entire chest and right below chest. It passed in about 10-15 minutes. I've been taking heartburn and indigestion medications. I still have a tightness in my chest and very bloated. I am belching a lot. I was wondering what direction to take. Acid re flux, gallbladder, or what?

Brief Answer:
Hiatus hernia related reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms.
1) Your symptoms are due to acid reflux since long time.
2) Most common cause for reflux since long time is Hiatus hernia i.e. weakening of opening in diaphragm from which esophagus enter into stomach.
3) Due to this weakened opening, upper part of stomach move into chest and produce symptoms of reflux.
4) You can control the symptoms of reflux with medications. But If may relapse again due to persist hiatus hernia which can not be cured with medications.
5) Hiatus hernia with symptoms mandates surgery which is done laparoscopically and this is completely safe surgery with quick recovery.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
