Brief Answer:
Send me your medical treatment...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting your query at HealthCareMagic.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Bowel movements and stomach bloating are caused by different factors and sometimes, these symptoms are caused by different medicine's side effects.
But in your medical history I noticed that you had a heart valve replacement, and I want to know if you use any kind of medicines, such as anticoagulant medicines.

So if you are taking any kind of medicine, please tell me what you are taking and then I will answer to your question.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.

My medications are as follows;
81 mg. Aspirin (blood thinner)
40 mg. Omeprazole (acid reflux) - but lately, it has not been helping as much.
10 mg. Atorvastatin (Lipitor substitute for cholesterol)
I also take Calcium and a multi-vitamin.

Brief Answer:
Atorvastatin's side effects...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for writing back.

I saw your medical treatment and I can say that your symptoms are related to Atorvastatin's side effects. This medicine causes gastro-intestinal effects like abdominal pain, nausea, bowel movements and flatulence(that you are experiencing).

To avoid these symptoms you should consult your cardiologist to discuss about the replacement of Atorvastatin with another medicine that has minimized side effects.

You also need a liver function test, to check liver condition, because except gastro-intestinal effects, this medicine can cause a mild injury to the liver.

Ask me for anything unclear.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
