What Causes Symptoms Of Gastritis Following A Prostate Biopsy?

Posted on Fri, 13 Jun 2014
Question: Hello, I had a prostate Biopsy done on me a month ago. Its been since than hell for me. I had complications after the test. The good news is that I am cancer free and the complications that I was having are now gone..... The question is this: It all just started, i seem to get this weird queasy almost nausea feeling right on the top part of my stomach. When I eat something it seems to be ok. Than comes back again. I never had this sort of thing happen before so I am concern. I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy a year ago and all was 100% fine. Just last week I had blood work, urine culture, and 2 major CT scans in the hospital. One with XXXXXXX and the other without. Everything turned out 100% well. in fact I rather was XXXXXXX by the good news because I felt like crap for almost a month due to the complications from the Prostate Biopsy.. So what do you think could maybe cause this, I just stop talking meds and antibiotic for strep throat 2 days ago. Because that is one major side effect by these meds. I do suffer from an anxiety, its pretty upsetting to always feel a little nausea that comes and goes. This is the third day this is happening. Its like I feel very hungry on the top part of my stomach. Sometimes it slightly hurts with or without food. But most of the time food gets rid of it.

Brief Answer:
It could be due to drug induced Gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have symptoms of gastritis following prostate biopsy .

These symptoms are not due to prostate biopsy but mostly due to anxiety in addition to drug induced gastritis due to multiple drugs that you are taking .

Since your colonoscopy and gastroscopy done one year back is negative for any major disease you need not worry at all.

Taking medication and modifying your diet will help to relieve your symptoms.
1) Take H2 receptor antagonist like Pantaprazole twice daily .
2) Modify your diet by taking frequent meals in small quantity instead of having two full meals.
3) Include milk, curd ,buttermilk in your diet and avoid spicy and junk foods.
4) Practice moderate exercise for 30 minutes followed by yoga or meditation for 30 minutes will help to allay your anxiety.

Hope this will help you to get relief from your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank You, last night I went to the hospital. They did all kinds of test on me. And all went well. You were right all along. I have acid reflux brought on by anxiety and meds side effects.
