What Causes Swelling On Forehead And Face While Traveling Abroad?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: For the last three years every time I go abroad on holiday I suffer from swelling which starts at the top of my forehead and over the course of 3/4 days it moves across my forehead and then my nose and finally my eyes I have tried wearing a hat to keep my head and face out of the sun and I wear Factor 50 on my face. And I've tried taking Piriton Allergy Tablets and other antihistamine tablets before and during the holiday and the last time I took Ibuprofen tablets which seem to reduce the swelling a little. None of this seems to happen when I'm in Britain, even if I'm in the sun all day. Can you help me please?

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Some persons are prone to recurrent allergy problem. Whenever you plan to go on visits then take antihistamine prophylactically (cetirizine one at night for 5-7 days). Apart from that, take montelukast once a day for 1 month. Research has shown that it decreases the incidence of allergy dramatically. Also you can visit an "Allergy Center" so that they can test you for specific allergens and then an allergist will prescribe you immunotherapy that will also help you.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
