What Causes Swelling In The Ankle And Calf?

Question: My knee has been painful, recently my foot, ankle, and calf, have become swollen, and very painful,to walk on

Hello, I have studied your case. Swelling in on leg without trauma is rare and it is suggestive of DVT. I would like to know little detail of the illness.
1. Since when you noticed this ?
2. Do you have pain in calf when squeezed?
3. Do you have history of prolong bed rest or Diabetes or blood coagulation problem?

the swelling, and pain started last week Thursday. Calf does not hurt when squeezed, except near ankle.
3) no diabetes or prolonged bed rest
i have never had high blood pressure

You need to get knee x rays and doppler

Hello,
I think your pain can be due to knee arthritis or DVT . I would suggest you to get x ray of knee joint and doppler test of the leg. This will confirm the diagnosis . Till then you need to take Brufen for swelling . Keep your leg over pillow. Avoid sqautting and sitting cross leg. Do not keep standing for long time .
