Question: My husband has merkel cancer his blood pressure is 168/120 and his left has swelled up he is later stage. What does this mean?

Thanks for your query. I understand your concerns.

Your husband is on chemotherapy for advanced Merkel cell carcinoma. Is he responding to chemo? What does the latest scan show?

If I assume that he is responding, then we should rule out thrombosis or clot in the vein. That can cause swelling in leg. If that is clear we should control the blood pressure with as many drugs as possible and give some meds like diuretics to reduce the fluid.

With these measures surely we would be able to control his symptoms.
