What Causes Swelling Around Genitals Area And Feet After Lung Surgery?
Question: My husband had lung surgery and from there on he being getting swollen from he's legs and he's private part

1. After his lung surgery, he is having cardiac failure symptoms.
2. The swelling in legs and private parts is due to dependent edema. Due to congested veins, secondary to reduced pumping of heart, he is having these symptoms.
3. Limb elevation in lying down position with 2-3 pillows below legs will reduce leg edema. Along with lasix, ACE inhibitors and ionotropic agents like digoxin treatment will be necessary to improve cardiac pumping function.
4. Not sure, if there is other causes like arrythmias, which require appropriate treatment.
At present, lasix along with mild mobility, controlled fluid intake and limb elevation is necessary.
As his heart recovers, his symptoms will improve.
