What Causes Surgical Wound Dehiscence Post Testicular Torsion Repair?
Question: My son had testiscular trusion surgery. After about a week, the cut came open right in the middle about an inch long. It has bled for 6 days but the bleeding is getting better. No other symptoms. What should we do?

Your son had surgery 1 week ago and the incision has opened slightly. The wound will now need to heal naturally. I would recommend that you keep the area covered with a good clean bandage and change it daily or as often as needed if it gets bloody or soiled. Clean the wound with saline or just good warm water and a little baby shampoo. With time about 2-4 weeks the wound will close up completely. He should not lift anything heavy or participate in any sports until the wound is healed.
If the sound becomes red swollen with foul smelling discharge then he needs to be seen by his doctor.

OK. I have been using steri strips to try to hold it together. It is still bleeding but not as bad.

There is little else you can do at this point. The incision has to heal by itself. Keep the area clean and covered as much as possible. The least amount of pressure and trauma to the incision will allow it to heal. If it does become infected please have your medical provider look at it and start antibiotics
