What Causes Sudden Pain On Left Side Of Neck When I Lay Down?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Jan 2015
Question: I have a sudden pain on the left side of my neck. When I am laying down and I move my head to the right I get a sharp pain on the left side of my neck, and it feels tight kind of like a cramp like a possible pulled muscle. I didn't have neck pain yesterday, what can be the cause, this morning I woke up and it still hurts and I can feel a ball right where it's at and it hurts, the ball is on the mid left side by my throat I didn't have it 2 days ago, can it be cancer?

Brief Answer:
Very unlikely to be cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. I agree with the answer given to you by Dr. XXXXXXX most probably there is a muscular problem and treatment with rest, analgesics, warm procedures should subside your symptoms. However if there is a bump ( or ball) at your neck and you have other concerns ( throat pain, temperature, difficulty swallowing etc.) I suggest you to consult a ENT Doctor and discuss your concerns. There may be also a local infection that affects neck lymph nodes. It is very unlikely there may be cancer. Hope this helps. If you have further questions feel free to ask.

Brief Answer:
Cancer doesn't show up in a day or two.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again. Your flipping on ice is a plus argument to a muscular problem mentioned before. I'm trying to understand why you think about cancer. I don't think this condition has something to do with any tumor or cancer. Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
This is not a cancer case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again. As I said before, in my opinion this is not a cancer case, I recommend you not to let your phobia affect your life. Consider consulting a psychologist and discuss your concerns. Hope this helps.
