Question: Dear Doctor,
I am on my 5 weeks implanting phase after my FET.. (last Hcg day-17 is 89). This morning I had slightly cramp, but just stopped after a while and I had watery diarrhea (I think because I drank milk). In the past this light cramp always followed with a heavy cramp which was leaded me to few failed IVF cycle. My question is why did I have this cramp this time..? is it because of my light diarrhea or something else..? I am bit worried.. Thank you !
Brief Answer:
most likely gastroenteritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM,
I understand your concern.
There may be two reasons for this.
1. Gastroenteritis or stomach upset due to indigestion or infection. It is more likely as you have a history of consuming food that you find difficult to digest.
2. impending abortion: less likely at 5 weeks to cause cramping.
However any sort of infection is not good for the baby and pregnancy.
I suggest that today you have only clear soups. Just let your stomach rest a little. If you have vomiting you may take tablet doxinate, it is safe. If there is pain after having food, take gelusil syrup 1 tablespoon. It is safe. Take some probiotic like yogurt or sporolac XXXXXXX with water. They help in quickly controlling the infection by allowing growth of normal bacteria.
You are on progesterone and estrogen both [progynova and utrogestan] so they may also cause nausea and GI upset. I would not recommend you to stop these now as they are helpful for the pregnancy. An addition of HCG may be needed to support pregnancy. Visit your treating doctor and discuss these issues as you have had failure earlier with similar complaints and will need more close monitoring this time.
Take bed rest as it is most beneficial.
Hope this satisfies your query.

Brief Answer:
Eat soft food or liquid food for a day or two.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,
If there are no more symptoms, just take probiotics like fat free yogurt and sporolac XXXXXXX No need for medicines.
Eat only soft food that is easily digestible. Avoid milk if possible. Even lactose free may be difficult to digest as milk is not the easiest of food to digest. Lower your protein intake for a few days as they are a bit more difficult to digest. Take complex carbohydrates like rice gruel, and soups. Introduce semisolid and solid food slowly once the symptoms stabilize and allow time for the stomach to heal. You will be alright in a day or two.
Please try to control on the food for a few days as this is a very precious pregnancy. Try to maintain utmost health.
Wish you the best.
