Brief Answer: See below Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for writing to health care magic. The possible causes for stomach ache in a 9 year old are 1. Gastritis: this is pretty common as kids of this age tend to eat erratically and skip meals. Viral infection too can result in gastritis and stomach ache. This can be treated with probiotics like bifilac twice a day and pantoprazole. I usually give 20 mg pantoprazole twice daily for 3 to 7 days depending on the severity. 2. Enteritis/ colitis: this is usually as aresult of water or food contamination, which needs probiotics, zinc and anti spasmodics like cyclopam 5ml thrice a day. 3. Worm infestation: esp if she has other symptoms like anal itching . Needs deworming with albendazole at night single tablet. 4. Rare causes like appendicitis, etc which have severe pain and tenderness in the right lower abdomen. This can be confirmed only by proper clinical examination and ultrasound abdomen if needed.
