Question: I take Thiothixene 8mg a day. I am 65 years old. I am experiencing stiff back muscles and cramplike symptoms in my upper legs my question is do you think these are side affects of this medication? If so is Diphenhydramine 25mg used to for side affects of this drug?

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

These side effects are not usually associated with Thiothixene, which is an anti psychotic.

Diphenyhdramine is used in parkinsonism and based on your description, it doesn't appear to be parkinsonism.

Muscle relaxants like tizanidine with NSAIDs can be advised to treat it symptomatically. CPK levels and metabolic profile including renal and liver function tests can be advised to look for a possible cause.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
