Brief Answer:
Menopuase, fibroid, uterine hyperplasia, see doctor, ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

Your guess is right. However, different people do experience menopause differently. At your age, it is but normal to start experiencing signs of menopause. Bleeding could stop at once in some women. However, it is not the case with most. Periods would start to be very long, with intermittent bleeding before finally fading away. I think this could be the case with you.

However, the opinion of the doctor could be needed to rule out other causes of bleeding in women. Fibroids and uterine wall thickening(hyperplasia) could also cause this.

I do not think you need to worry much, In case you have experiencing other symptoms like hot flushes and mood changes, this should for sure be a process towards menopause.

However, if possible, I still suggest a review by your doctor. A pelvic echography (ultrasound), generally simple and available could be most useful

Thanks and kind regards as I wish you the best of health,

Dr Bain
