What Causes Sore Throat With Difficulty In Swallowing?

Question: hello doctor, i have pain in left tonsil or where the tonsil is. i have lot of difficulty in swallowing anything as it pains. this is since yesterday and today i have slight fever also. may be thr fever is because of pain. please if you can prescribe some medicine.

Hello and welcome to HCM. Thanks for writing in to us with your health query. The symptoms you have described are suggestive of Tonsillitis. Do saline gargles 3-4 times a day if you are comfortable. Take antibiotic Tab Amox clav 625 mg three times a day for 5 days. Take tab Serridic -P three times a day to reduce pain fever and inflammation. I wish tou a quick recovery . Regards Dr Manisha Jain

hello doctor, thanks for your response. just to let you know that i had left ear infection few days back and i was taking amoxicillin 500mg. do you think it is related to that as thid id also on left side. do you recommend going on antibiotics again.

Hello again. it will take 2-3 days for inflammation to get resolved. Serridic p was the drug to reduce it but you were unable to get it. Abtibiotic is for prevention of super infection on already inflammed tonsil. Saline gargles and Seridic p will help to hasten the recovery. Regards Dr Manisha Jain.
