Brief Answer:
Thyrpid

Detailed Answer:
It has been 6 months since your surgery. Ask the surgeon if the recurrent laryngeal nerve was damaged during surgery. This is the nerve that controls the vocal cords which are vital for speech. There is a small chance during every thyroid surgery for this nerve to be damaged. That's why many a time, surgeons performs vocal cord examination even before surgery to know the baseline status of the vocal cord and compare it after surgery to see if there is any difference.
